POTENTIAL LAB MEMBERS
Northwestern undergraduates and master’s students: Joining the lab involves (1) completing a brief interest form, (2) attending at least 3 lab meetings, then (3) volunteering for at least 15 total hours, over multiple weeks. After that, students can continue to volunteer or receive course credit or work study. This is designed to ensure alignment for both the student and the lab. We prioritize students with a strong interest in our areas of research, who have or are building content knowledge in these areas, and who are looking for an ongoing, multi-year involvement with the lab.
As of January 2026, we are at capacity for student roles. We may begin welcoming more student lab members in March 2026 – please reach out then. If you would like to join the lab, please email Prof. Norton with your resume/CV and note that you have reviewed these guidelines.
Prospective PhD students: Dr. Norton admits PhD students through the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders PhD program. Applications for the fall 2026 cycle have closed. Applicants can view the status of their application in CollegeNet.
Prospective postdocs: Prospective postdoctoral scholars who have background in closely related areas and who bring or are applying for funding may be considered. Please email Dr. Norton to discuss.
High school students, postbac/medical students, and undergraduates from other institutions: We do not have openings at this time in the lab, due to the substantial extra steps to onboard non-Northwestern individuals. Please check back in the future. We are unfortunately not able to support high school student projects or internships, including remote projects, because of logistics limitations.
