The LEARN Lab is proud to have received a research grant from the Moebius Syndrome Foundation to study language and communication in young children with Moebius.
This study will help us understand (1) how best to adapt measures to accurately assess young children’s communication and language skills and (2) the patterns of language and communication development in Moebius from ages 2-6. For example, many parents wonder at what age most children with Moebius say their first word or reach other milestones and how fast their language abilities grow over time; this study will help us know more!
Our first research goal, holding an assessment review panel with Moebius experts and community members, has been completed! Check back here for updates.
Our family study for children age 2-6 years with Moebius and their caregiver is now open . It involves doing four fun Zoom meetings with our research team over 6 months and families receive payment for their time.
If you are interested, please fill out this form: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/r/pZa4CsrEhw
Right now, we are enrolling families in the US (due to payment logistics). If you live outside the US, we will stay in touch as we hope to include you, too.
You can always email LEARNlab@northwestern.edu with subject “Moebius study” with any questions.
